First electric kick-scooter pilot began
B.C. Reg. 90/2021 created the original community pilot. It is no longer the current regulation.
- Current framework began
New e-bike classes and renewed scooter pilot
B.C. replaced the former Motor Assisted Cycle Regulation with B.C. Reg. 64/2024, introduced the light e-bike class, and began the renewed scooter pilot under B.C. Reg. 247/2023.

Vulnerable road-user protections expanded
Drivers gained clearer duties to take precautions and leave space when passing cyclists, e-bike and e-scooter riders, and other protected road users.

Current scooter pilot regulation is scheduled to end
