Electrical diagnostics

Find the fault.
Then decide what happens next.

For serviceable e-bikes and e-scooters that will not power on, charge, assist consistently, respond to controls, or explain their own error code.

Flat diagnostic assessment$125 CAD

Paid upfront after serviceability is confirmed and before the machine enters diagnostic intake.

One problem-finding fee

Testing, findings and a clear next step.

The fee applies whenever diagnostic testing is required on a serviceable e-bike or e-scooter. One flat diagnostic fee covers the assessment, documented findings, and a clear recommended next step. It is not billed by the hour. We contact you with the findings before any repair labour or parts begin. If you decline the repair, you may pick up the machine with the findings. The diagnostic fee is separate from repair labour and parts and is not credited toward an approved repair.

Not hourly diagnosisThe fee covers the accepted diagnostic assessment. Repair labour and parts start only after you receive the findings and approve the next step.

What we assess

Follow the evidence.
Do not guess the part.

The exact test path depends on the symptom, machine condition, accessible documentation and safe test points.

Intermittent electrical faults

Cut-outs on hills or bumps, faults that appear hot, random errors, power loss under rider weight, and controls that work only sometimes.

Wet-ride and water-ingress assessment

Post-rain symptoms, moisture evidence, corrosion, charge-port concerns, connectors and serviceable enclosures. Damage mitigation is not a waterproofing guarantee.

Wiring and connector restoration

Julet/Higo, power, charge and motor connections; damaged pins, chafed wiring, strain relief, corrosion and serviceable harness repair.

Power, motor and controls

Accessible voltage, charger behaviour, motor response, controller symptoms, display, throttle, PAS, torque sensor and brake-cutoff concerns.

Supporting evidence: Thermal imaging may help document abnormal heating when it is appropriate to the fault, but it is one measurement—not a stand-alone diagnosis.

What happens next

Three steps.
No mystery.

01

Tell us what’s wrong

Share the machine, symptoms, warning codes, and what changed.

02

We assess the machine

We review serviceability and inspect or test what is needed to find the next step.

03

You approve the next step

We explain the options clearly. Repair work begins only after you approve it.

Current boundaries

Independent testing has honest limits.

Factory-software diagnostics, firmware updates, manufacturer warranty work, and locked-system electronic service for Bosch, Giant, and Shimano systems are not currently offered. Sprocket Science does not open, rebuild or repair lithium battery packs or claim cell-level analysis, exact remaining life, or battery safety certification.

Controlled external capacity testing is available as a separate service. If proprietary factory software, unsafe pack intervention or unavailable documentation is required, Sprocket Science will explain that boundary before accepting the work.

Include the make, model, error code, when the problem appears, recent changes and clear photos. Sprocket Science will review serviceability before arranging intake.
